Reduce size of DWG file in AutoCAD, optimize your drawing files. Large File Size Problem

In this tutorial I am going to show you how to decrease or lose weight of an AutoCAD DWG file, I am going to show you three methods to reduce the weight of the AutoCAD file. The first one is about the AutoCAD file version, the second is with the functions PURGE and AUDIT, and the last one is related to the elements of your AutoCAD file. The excessive weight of a DWG file can be caused by a large amount of data in a drawing that may be being used or not used, object types and complexity. It is possible that some drawings do not reduce their size much, while others may show a significant reduction.

Find version of a DWG file or which version of AutoCAD was used to create it - check the version

In the present tutorial I am going to show you how to check the version of a dwg file or which version of AutoCAD was used to create it, for which there are two ways, one is with AutoCAD and another is opening it with a notepad when we do not have the AutoCAD installed. When you open an AutoCAD file, the AutoCAD version will be displayed on the command line. Another option is to open a DWG file in Notepad: the first six characters will reflect the DWG version, according to the following AC10xx code:
AC1015 = AutoCAD 2000
AC1018 = AutoCAD 2004
AC1021 = AutoCAD 2007
AC1024 = AutoCAD 2010

Drawing Crash Recovery AutoCAD file DWG .SV$ .BAK, Find Autosave or Backup File

You are working on a drawing in AutoCAD, which demanded a lot of hard work, and suddenly the PC turns off or crash or freeze, and you forgot save!, Wow! a huge problem ... but don’t worry, here is the solution.
AutoCAD has two types of autosave files: a backup file (*.bak) and autosave file (* .sv$). The bak is a file that always is generated as backup of dwg file (drawing, AutoCAD file) in the same folder where we saved. The sv$ is a temporary backup that is created in the temp folder found in the temp folder of your user’s files Windows, this sv$ saves us 100% of the content of the dwg file. These two backups, we can change to a dwg file of AutoCAD to open it, the bak file is easy, only you have to change its extension for example: floor_plan.bak to floor_plan.dwg, but the sv$ which has 100% of our work is somewhat more complicated, also in this tutorial I’m gonna show you how to create a folder to always have on hand the sv$ to change its extension and never lose our drawings and never be afraid of a fatal error or power outage.

Restoring the Classic Worskpace in AutoCAD 2015 with Toolbars

AutoCAD 2015 doesn't include a workspace for "AutoCAD Classic". If you want to get back your toolbars and classic workspace, you have 2 Options:
The first option and the easier method is by importing a file containing a User Interface Customization from AutoCAD 2014 with "AutoCAD Classic" workspace. If you don’t have one I’m gonna let you a link to download a CUIX file with the "AutoCAD Classic" workspace from AutoCAD 2014: Acad2014.cuix Link 1, Acad2014.cuix Link 2 or Acad2014.cuix Link 3
