In the present tutorial I am going to show you how to check the version of a dwg file or which version of AutoCAD was used to create it, for which there are two ways, one is with AutoCAD and another is opening it with a notepad when we do not have the AutoCAD installed.
When you open an AutoCAD file, the AutoCAD version will be displayed on the command line. Another option is to open a DWG file in Notepad: the first six characters will reflect the DWG version, according to the following AC10xx code:
AC1015 = AutoCAD 2000
AC1018 = AutoCAD 2004
AC1021 = AutoCAD 2007
AC1024 = AutoCAD 2010
AC1027 = AutoCAD 2013
AC1032 = AutoCAD 2018
